Bangladesh July 2018 Trip Update

Assalamu Alaikum,

Our CEO Meer Hossain Recently returned from Bangladesh an eventful trip to Bangladesh.  This letter is to update you with the highlights of this trip. He was joined by Dr. Ahmad Howeedy on this trip to view the progress made by our partner organization, Basmah Foundation.


On July 18th they made their way to our medical camp In the Kutupalong Refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar where Dr. Howeedy volunteered his services and expertise. Home visits were made to refugees who were too sick to come to our medical camp.

Later that day we visited our orphan center which is a very special program for us and we’re happy to see that the expansion has been completed and we are now supporting over 160 orphans and providing them with an education. From our orphan center we also distributed over 300 food packages to the children.


On July 19th we visited our first Mosque to be established in the Balukhali camp, Masjid Ali Nadwi(r) where we had a meeting with all the teachers Imams and community leaders that we work with, hearing reports on their progress and giving them advice on howto improve the services they offer as well as their gifts. We then distributed over 300 food packages to families from Masjid Ali Nadwi(r).

On July 21st our CEO Meer Hossain and Dr. Ahmed attended an international NGO conference at the Hotel Holiday Express in Dhaka. They met with leaders of local charity organizations to discuss ways of streamlining charitable efforts and increasing efficiency in achieving humanitarian goals in Bangladesh.

On July 22nd we visited our pilot project in Lalmonirhat which is the distribution of sewing machines to women who were certified through our training program. Sewing Machines were distributed to ten graduates of our training center which will enable them to start their own small businesses and create a stream of income for themselves and their families.

On July 23rd Basmah’s CEO Meer Hossain as well as Basmah Foundation’s Chairman Meer Mohammad Delwar Hossain met with the Home Minister of Bangladesh Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to discuss Basmah’s projects and activities in Bangladesh.

On July 25th we visited the NGO Affairs Bureau in Bangladesh where Basmah Foundation obtained the final legal certificate for NGOs in Bangladesh.
