A scene so common at the World Cup, so mistreated in Pembroke Pines | SunSentinel

SFL Muslim leaders Samir Kakli and Wilfred Ruiz addressed the Franklin Academy incident from last week where a now former staff member disrupted Muslim students while praying and called it an act of ‘magic’. The op-ed published in SunSentinel on December 15. 2022.

They emphasized the need to show religious tolerance and explained how in Islam prayer is a means for Muslims to converse with God and requires a deep connection devoid of any distractions. As they explained the process of the prayer, they hoped that such incidents are not repeated and that Muslim students may practice their religious duty without any fear and humiliation.
