Alhamdolillah, South Florida Muslim Federation successfully held its 1st regional conference on March 18-19, 2022. With over 800 attendees of all ages and ethnicities from across the tri-county area, the conference was a mix of activities aimed at spiritual, social and educational advancement of the community.

The community was able to take advantage of the presence, knowledge and experience of nationally renowned speakers such as Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, Imam Khalid Latif, Sheikh ElShinawy, Imam Azhar Subedar and Sr Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir; and reconnect with local powerhouses like Imam Izhar Khan, Mufti Sultan, Shaikh Shafayat, Imam Abdul Hamid Samra, Imam Abdullah Jaber, Dr Kanwal Akhtar, and many more.

The social sessions like Catch the Match and Chai Social also drew in huge crowds. Meanwhile the grand bazaar never saw a dearth of participation with its variety of stalls and products and delectable savory meals and dessert options offered by the halal food vendors.

The highlight of the conference though was the keynote session with a packed hall and the amazing guest speakers sharing their wisdom with the community. Imam Mujahid emphasized the need to focus on highlighting the good Muslim communities are doing across the world. Sheikh ElShinawy addressed the need for Muslims to continue their struggle to the best of their ability with an unwavering belief that everything is Allah’s hand. While recounting her personal story, Sr Bilqis stressed the need for staying true to the faith in the face of adversity and firmly believing that Allah (SWT) will lead you to a better path. And finally, Imam Khalid Latif hoped that such events continue to take place and that they focus more on future collaborations and ways of moving forward.
